1 Introductions, apologies and substitutions
The Chair welcomed the Committee. Apologies were received from Angela Burns, John Griffiths and David Rees.
2 Inquiry into Supply Teaching - Evidence Session 4
The Chair heard evidence from Professor Ken Jones and Peter Thomas from the University Wales Trinity Saint David.
3 Inquiry into Supply Teaching - Evidence Session 5
The Committee heard evidence from NASUWT.
4 Papers to note
The papers were noted.
4.1 Letter from the Minister for Education and Skills - Appointment of new Chair of Qualifications Wales' Shadow Board
4.2 Letter from the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee - Report into new psychoactive substances
5 Motion under Standing Order 17.42 to resolve to exclude the public from the meeting for the remainder of the meeting:
The Motion was agreed.
6 Consideration of the Forward work programme
The Committee considered the forward work programme, which outlined work the Committee had committed to do and possible topics for work in the future.
The Committee agreed to carry out work in the following areas:
- two specific follow-up inquiries into CAMHS, specifically on the use of prescription medication in the context of CAMHS and the provision of CAMHS at primary level;
- the Welsh Education Strategic Plans;
- the Regional Consortia;
- legacy work;
- In-year Financial Scrutiny.
The Committee also considered a letter from the Minster for Finance and Government Business and agreed to respond to the Minister in writing.
